Suresh Indu Laser Pvt. Ltd
, Pune manufacturer of Industrial laser systems, has manufactured laser cladding system probably first in India. With 2.8 KW Fiber coupled Diode Laser and a coaxial powder-feeding nozzle, Porosity free and near crack free nickel based coatings with high content of globular tungsten carbide (WC) are applied to metal surface. The process reduces the Operational cost of conventional CO2 systems by at least factor of three and lowers investment cost by utilizing smaller laser systems. Our laser cladding system is extremely compact size, ease to operate, high wall plug efficiency; lower investment and running for laser cladding, especially in an industrial environment.

Laser cladding Principle:
Metal surface-enhancing process performed by applying a powdered metal material onto the base surface, with a Laser bond with minimal dilution, nominal melting and small Heat affecting zone.

Features:
Unlike welding, thermal spraying or plating, laser cladding provides a strong metallurgical bond with minimum dilution of the base material, exceptional thickness control, and small heat affected zone.
Cladding Dissimilar Metals reduces components failure.

Laser cladding features

  • High Bonding Strength
  • Low Dilution
  • Metal and ceramic coating materials
  • 50m to 2mm coating thickness
  • High Repeatability
  • Low heat affected zone (HAZ)
  •
        Applications:

    1. Oil Industry Down Hole drilling equipments, oil field tools, PC pump rotors etc.

    2. Repairs of tools & dies and increase cladding efficiency. Ideal for crack free built up of hot forming     tools & dies, can be used for tool temp up to 1000ºF, provides 57 HRC hardness.

    3. Cladding on steel tube used in chemical processing boilers and other high temperature     applications.

    4. Cladding of copper on steel for superior corrosion resistance in marine applications.

    5. Silver cladding on copper substrate for electrical contractor industry.

    6. Agricultural saw blades & plough blades.

    7. Unique alloy contains nickel with tungsten borides & carbides. Critical wear components such as

        a. Ball valves: Balls & seats

        b. Gate Valves: Gates & wear surface.

        c. Pumps: Centrifugal, positive displacement

        d. Progressing Cavity: Shafts, Stuffing boxes, impellers, rotors.

        e. Mixers: Rotating Parts

    8. Ni-Cr-Mo alloy Laser cladding provides a dense, crack free metallurgy bonded Surface that     protects the substrate and will not spall.

    9. Applications include aircraft construction, Heat exchangers.

    Laser cladding benefits

The goal of cladding is to deposit a material of desired physical properties over a substrate. Cladding materials are chosen based on whether they need to provide Corrosion on resistance, wear resistance or higher hardness, depending upon the use of the base part being clad .
Laser cladding provides a strong metallurgical bond with minimal dilution of the base material.
Laser cladding also has better thickness control and as clad surface finish better than conventional cladding methods. There is a small zone of base material that does get melted in with the cladding and therefore creates a very good metallurgical bond, versus thermal spray types of cladding that are literally sprayed onto the surface and do not have a solid bond between the two layers. The laser process is much more suitable for automation in welding than conventional welding.
